Wine Maker Magazine announced online, on Sunday May 19th, the winners of this year’s International Winemaking Competition, which included 2305 entries from 6 countries, 5 provinces and 50 American states."

About Our Team
Becky Mowat, President/Co-Owner/Co-Manager
Becky Mowat, President/Co-Owner/Co-Manager
Becky earned her M.Ed. Degree Hon. and advanced TESL Can 1 Diploma Hon and taught students from age 6 through to university level over the course of her career.
After retiring from teaching here on PEI, Becky joined Bev and John O’Connor at John’s in the summer of 2011. Becky has travelled afar to famous wineries in many countries exploring innovations in the winemaking industry and learning about different grape varietals and to appreciate wine tasting profiles. She continues to combine her love of travel with her passion for viniculture!
Her continued passion for food and wine pairings, keeps her enthralled with craft wine making and blogging about interesting food and wine pairings on John’s Home Brew Store Facebook page. She loves to answer questions about craft wine making, and about the tasting notes of the different grape varietals!
Becky produces John’s Newsletter about our featured wines; and works on advertising and the store websites. The customer always comes first to Becky. Becky enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling to wineries, gardening, reading audio books and creating wine and food pairings!

From there she toured the Okanagan Winery Trail from Kelowna to Osoyoos, visiting many unique and beautiful wineries, many of which are affiliated with or owned by RJS Craft Winemaking and Arterra Wines Canada, our main Wine Kit supplier. Michael has been an engaging and helpful retailer/Manager all his adult life. He has had an interesting career in retail mostly at sales and management level across Canada and the USA. Michael loves to chat with you about wine and beer kits, if you need help deciding what grape varietal you would like. He is a true champion of the grape! Michael knows a lot about craft micro brewing of beer as well.
Helping you, the customer is Michael’s biggest priority. Michael lives near the West River with his partner Becky Mowat and their beloved cats: Tammy, Chico and Flash!

Jennifer Barrett, Customer Relations/Sales
Jennifer is by trade a classical guitarist and pianist who has spent over twenty years running a successful private studio in the heart of Charlottetown teaching classical guitar, piano theory and composition. She is also a published composer.
Jennifer happily joined the John's Home Brew team in 2017 and as a long-time wine enthusiast has enjoyed learning more each day about the different varietals. She enjoys her time with the customers and helping them bottle in a fun and friendly atmosphere. In her spare time, she enjoys calligraphy, painting, cooking and spending her time with her two children, family, friends and her dog, Dally.

Jack MacLean, Inventory Manager
Very sadly, our good friend and co-worker Jack MacLean has passed away this week.
Jack was a helper and a friend to all at John’s Home Brew Store: Our friend Jack helped part time at John’s for many years, as Inventory Manager. We have now dubbed this area of the store: "Jack's Corner" to honor his dedication. Even when illness and pain were constant, he always showed up because he so enjoyed being with us at John's. He loved to talk and tell jokes with anyone that happened along, even when he wasn't feeling the best. Everyone was treated like family, by Jack. He helped at John’s most mornings, keeping everyone laughing and on their toes. Jack didn't hesitate to aid anyone in a time of need: running errands for the store, drives to the airport, as designated driver to and from our annual Christmas Party, or nighttime rescues when a car broke down.
Jack was also a familiar face at Oyster Bed Bridge Track and was busy chauffeuring during the Elections.
Jack loved animals, his favorites being kitties, especially Tammy, Chico and Flash, whom he cared deeply for and looked after when Michael and Becky were away. He had a real rapport with Chico, who shared his love of Frito Lay chips! He always carried a bag of them to share with Chico.
Jack will be sorely missed as he always lived by the adage: "A friend in need is a friend indeed!", and he never hesitated to help others.
Our solace through our sadness will be all the memories of the good times we shared with Jack.
Rest in Peace Jack--You are in our hearts forever.
