About Our Canned Malts

Made popular in Britain during the 1950's canned malt extract was the first introduction for many home brewers. Canned extract is a thick molasses-like syrup which contains concentrated malted barley and hops flavoring. To start a brew you simply add water and yeast. It's then left to ferment for about 7 - 14 days before bottling. Your beer is ready to drink in another 14 days. It's a simple process and the beer can be remarkably good. Although beer kits have evolved the traditional canned kit is still popular mainly because its simplicity and economy.

Coopers Australian Pale Ale: Due to popular demand our master brewers have developed a beer concentrate in the style of the famous COOPERS ORIGINAL PALE ALE which is considered an Australian icon.The finest 2-row barley, hops and specially selected yeast combine to produce a beer with fruity and floral characters, balanced with a crisp bitterness and compelling flavor perfect for every occasion.

Coopers American Lager: This lager captures the style of the finest quality lagers exported from Northern Europe. Serve well chilled in a tall, narrow glass with a generous head of 5cm or so and savor the herbaceous hop aroma and crisp finish.  Colour: 90 EBC

Cooper's Mexican Cerveza: A great thirst quencher! Coopers Mexican Cerveza emulates the style of the finest quality beers exported from Mexico. This premium beer is light in style with a fresh clean taste, ideally served ice-cold with a wedge of lime or lemon.

Colour: 53 EBC

Bitterness: 325 IBU

Thomas Coopers IPA (India Pale Ale) produces a beer with all the hallmarks of a genuine IPA from the “mother land”. A strong, robust ale with malt characters and very high hopping levels.

Cooper's Stout: Dark brown colour with a persistent head resembling espresso creamer, a blend of coffee, chocolate and grain aromas, exceptional mouth feel and dark malt characteristics, the combination of malt tannins and hop bitterness results in a dry finish. Can be consumed young or cellared for a number of years with excellent results.

Coopers Canadian Blonde is our first beer kit designed specifically to suit regional tastes. This light golden colored ale has the moderate hop character many North American beer drinkers favor.Pale straw colour. Crisp pale malt aromas with a hint of spicy hops, clean pale malt flavours and a light-bodied palate that finishes with obvious hop bitterness. Perfect for summer drinking.

Cooper's Dark Ale: produced from the selection of superior roasted malts, which are produced from the finest South Australian two-row barley. This combination of roasted malts and specially selected hops from Tasmania, provides the full and flavorsome taste, for those who prefer a darker beer style. Rich Mahogany color and a creamy head. Roasted malt aromas with a hint of chocolate, generous mouth feel dominated by roasted malt flavors, sufficient hop bitterness to give balance and a dry finish.

 Cooper's Draught:

Light yellow-gold colour with a tightly packed white head, floral nose with a hint of malt, medium bodied palate with delicate hopping and a slightly bitter finish. The most discerning draught drinker will appreciate this beer.

A full and flavorsome beer displaying a clean crisp taste with a subtle, bitter flavor. Coopers Draught displays a good head with a fresh bright colour. This style is sometimes better described as draught bitter.

English Bitter

Deep golden-copper colour with a creamy white head. Overt fruit and malt aromas, a full bodied palate showing complex malt flavours, balanced with a bitter finish. May be served slightly warmer than lighter style beers.

Styled in the old-English tradition, Coopers Bitter is made using aromatic hops and more malt than other beers. Darker in color than lager style beers, its strong refreshing flavor has made it a popular choice among those who appreciate the quality of this ruby coloured traditional beer.

Cooper's Lager:

Straw colour with golden hues and a lacy white head. Light floral aromas follow through on a light to medium bodied palate with subtle malt and hop flavours and a clean finish. An Australian Lager style with plenty of character.

Coopers Lager is produced using the finest Australian premium malted barley and Tasmanian Hops. When fermented these ingredients combine to produce a full-bodied Australian Lager that is distinctive and refreshing to the taste.

Cooper's Real Ale:

Real Ale displays a solid head and a distinctive, full bodied flavor, enhanced by a soft fruity character. A true ale in style and color.

Colour (°SRM) - 8.1 pH - 4.1 IBU - 29

This kit also requires one of the following: either one package of Muntons Kit Enhancer (recommended) or one kilogram of corn sugar or one litre of Hi-maltose syrup.

Cooper's Stout:

Dark brown colour with a persistent head resembling espresso crema, a blend of coffee, chocolate and grain aromas, exceptional mouthfeel and dark malt characteristics. The combination of malt tannins and hop bitterness results in a dry finish.

Coopers Irish Stout: is an authentic recipe containing a blend of malted barley, roasted barley, flaked barley and hops. A rich, dark brew displaying coffee, chocolate and licorice aromatics, roasted, bitter notes with a dry finish. The pour will exhibit a turbulent, cascading tan foaming action. Eventually, this settles into a creamy beige coloured head that rests atop the beer.

Bitterness : 560IBU
